In November of 2015, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) announced it was taking steps to make cloud and mobile enabled networks a priority in 2016.
It looks like that vision has actually started to take hold. Earlier this month, we discussed the changes to cloud security that DISA revealed when they released an update to the Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide. You can read the full post here.
And now, DISA has posted a statement reinforcing their claims on mobile security, with focus on interoperability, cost, and, capabilities. In conjunction with the National Security Agency (NSA), DISA is working to provide secured mobile connectivity and interoperability around the globe.
“Devices and users must be able to talk back to all of the secure systems used by not only the U.S. federal government and DOD, but also our coalition partners. With coalition partner support, DISA is currently in the position of balancing risk with operational need.” said DISA’s Kim Rice, portfolio manager for the DOD mobility Program Office.
With continued support and interagency collaboration, DISA’s goal to secure cloud and mobile networks is quickly becoming a reality.
Keep up to date on DISA requirements, especially around security certifications and product hardening with Corsec.
